Citygreen
Since 2004, we've been pioneers in sustainable design, introducing the world's first engineered soil cell system made from 100% recycled polymers. Today, we partner with clients on both revitalization and greenfield projects, offering services from tree pit and stormwater modelling, technical design and documentation, and delivery of installation construction works. We prioritize circular economy manufacturing with our major products produced from local recycled content in our major markets, USA, Canada, and Australia.

What their customers say
Quotes from people at Citygreen's customers.
““It’s best to bite the bullet, spend the money and do it properly. What you save in maintenance and in the long term, it’s a no brainer.””
““The change is phenomenal with the area now featuring a very strong geometry. It’s been transformed from a really dusty area dominated by car parks into a really comfortable plaza for people.””
“"I reviewed all the previous projects that we have installed in the past couple years using your product and I can happily report back that we have 0% mortality in the soil cells, which is incredible!"”
““We are big on compliance on all projects, and the fact that their SmartCertify cloud platform covers all bases, and supports their 20 year warranties, is critical – especially that these pits are being installed under roadways and footpaths.””
““Our experience, in working with a Citygreen Design Studio was second to none. We found responses from the design studio to be very timely, and technically thorough. We went backwards and forwards a number of times, looking at different iterations of the design and, nothing was too much trouble to examine and explore different possibilities. I would highly recommend the Citygreen Design Studio to any future client considering using your services.””

““Citygreen offered training and invaluable technical assistance during the works.””
““Citygreen is a very professional business, and I found everything was great in terms of deliveries, product supply and information. It was all forthcoming and helped us to complete the project.””
““Great customer service, quick response times and a very in depth QA system with constant support.””
“Galvin Stewart described the revamped precinct as “A great outdoor space for the public and community”, while Ian Betley confirmed the Pandanus trees are all doing exceptionally well in the Stratavault system.”
“Galvin echoed this view, saying “Great support from the Citygreen team and an easy to use product” was vital to helping the project run smoothly.”
““The Stratavault cells created a void for the Pandanus to be planted into without compromising the integrity of the engineered wall”, said Ian, adding that “Citygreen worked closely with the engineers to ensure an easy install”.”
“The trees have clearly grown above average performance, which is testament to the success of the water sensitive urban design of this solution. For this kind of urban environment where a passive tree watering and aeration system is required, I’d definitely recommend the StrataCell system. It’s a great product, and the guys are great to work with. We’ll work together again, I’m sure.”
“We were really impressed with Citygreen’s on-site construction input. This system was new to the contractor, so Citygreen played an active role prior to and during construction, ensuring the contractor understood the construction methodology and knew how to build the system properly. Six months down the track, the trees are all in good health and they’ve definitely grown, so I’d be happy to recommend the StrataCell system to others.”
“In addition to the actual product, the Citygreen guys we worked with made a lasting impression. They were always happy to discuss the install and provide advice, and often popped into site of their own accord just to see how everything was progressing. They obviously really believe in their product, and are excited about being involved and seeing the technology come to life. Their positivity and proactivity was really impressive.”
“This was a really innovative solution, whereby each of the trees double as drainage bases. As a result, they’ve required very little maintenance from us. In fact, apart from giving them a bit of water in the first few weeks, we haven’t had to do anything to them – they look after themselves, which is fantastic.”
“The project was completed successfully. Whilst the trees are still in a very early growing stage, no issues have presented. The cells provide an ideal solution for the installation of trees in highly-developed urban environments where there is not much room for construction, providing growing space for trees and their root systems without damaging pavements. The support from Citygreen during the construction process enabled us to obtain the best outcome.”
““Where a pedestrian or vehicle grade surface is required adjacent to trees, Stratacells are the best solution to provide soil underneath while holding up the finished surface,” Fooks said.”
“With their experience on the Frankston project, Cadenazzi said that although they don’t get involved during the specifying and design stage, they have no hesitation in endorsing the Stratacell system.”
“Fooks seconded this saying that the installation was “incredibly simple” and that the cells simply locked into place ready to be filled with soil media.”
“However, installing the Stratacell system was itself a straightforward process. “We relied on the web video tutorials provided on the Citygreen website for guidance and these were extremely useful in having the entire process broken down step by step,” Cadenazzi said.”
“As per usual, Citygreen were always contactable, prompt with quotations and provided high-quality, reliable products that are vandal resistant – improving the potential success of tree planting.”
“Citygreen tree grates and guards were specified and installed in a number of inner-city areas, as defined by the CCPDTM, including Victoria Street, Rawson Street, Railway Parade, Young Street, Belmore Street and Auburn Street. Using these proven products contributed to the success of the high-quality upgraded streetscapes, significantly improving safety and amenity.”
“Our main goals when upgrading footways in the city centre were to comply with accessibility standards, provide seating, bins, bike racks, planter boxes and tree planting where possible. The aim was to provide a high-quality finish for the inner-city precinct, offering high visual and functional amenity.”
““The structural integrity of the cell holds up the concrete above. It doesn’t allow the roots getting out of the cell zone and start interfering with the storm waters and other services”, he added.”
“Barry Heffer, from NaturForm, was the project manager for the landscape component of the project. He also supported the Stratacell system, saying it was essential to “establish large trees with a good root system” especially in cyclone prone areas like Townsville.”
“She also noted that “the compressive strength of the Stratacells was also a huge benefit in this particular streetscape, as it allowed for a variety of surfaces to be applied over the top. For instance, the Stratacells could be extended under areas of concrete pavement.””
“At the time of the redevelopment, Kate, a Landscape Architect from Gamble McKinnon Green, said the Citygreen tree pit system was chosen as it “allows the trees the opportunity to grow to their mature size in a harsh urban environment”.”
“Four years down the track, the trees are performing and growing really well. We know Citygreen’s systems work and would definitely recommend them to others.”
“Across multiple projects, the Citygreen team have always been great to work with. They’re very responsive and provide useful input to our designs. These days, we get them involved early, whereby they ensure our designs are viable or provide alternate suggestions if required.”
“This has been a great planning outcome for a city centre that fell victim to decentralisation decades ago. Traffic in malls doesn’t always work successfully but in this case the design is the key to the success. The Townsville City Council has managed to create an attractive and useful area with shared spaces to bring back a heart beat to the CBD,”
