Iași Software and Cloud Engineers Get a New Employer as Itility Opens Its First Romanian Office, Aiming for 100 Staff

Dutch firm Itility opened its first Romanian office in Iași and aims for 100 staff. See the DevOps, cloud, data and .NET roles open now and how to apply.

Software and cloud engineers in Iași have a new international employer to consider. Itility, a Dutch IT consulting and technology engineering company, has opened its first office in Romania at Palas Campus and aims to reach 100 employees in Romania. The opening was made public on Sept. 28, and the announcement named DevOps Engineer and Full Stack .NET Engineer among the open roles. For Metaintro readers, the more useful story sits on the company's own careers site, where live Iași postings spell out the tools, the client work and the benefits. Here is what those pages say, what they leave out and how to decide whether to apply.

What Did Itility Announce in Iași?

The office sits in the Palas Campus complex, the office complex built by the developer IULIUS in central Iași, and it marks the company's entry into the Romanian market. Itility's own site gives the exact address as Palas Campus, B2 Building, 6th Floor, and the Romania office now appears alongside the Dutch and US offices on the company's office locations page.

The headline number is a target rather than a count of open jobs. The company plans a team of about 100 employees and has an accelerated recruitment plan for key software engineering and cloud roles. The announcement sets no date for reaching the full team, only a nearer goal, to grow the team by the end of the year through recruitment that is already under way.

Over time, the mix of roles will expand as the organisation grows, and the Iași team's involvement will grow with it. For now, every role in the Romania section of the careers site is an engineering job.

Who Is Itility and What Kind of Work Does It Do?

Itility is headquartered in Eindhoven, in the Brainport region of the Netherlands, and also runs offices in San Diego and Austin in the United States. Itility's Dutch team counts over 250 experts in data, cloud, software, security and digital consultancy, while two of the Iași postings say Itility works with a team of 300+ engineers, data scientists, project managers, and architects.

The firm works on digital transformation, IT infrastructure modernisation and artificial intelligence projects for companies around the world, with expertise that includes the semiconductor industry and manufacturing. Two of its Iași postings name its client sectors as manufacturing, energy, and earth observation.

One practical warning before you search. A separate American company with a near-identical name runs the ITility careers site at itility.com, and it describes itself as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business serving the US armed forces. Its careers page lists a corporate headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia, while the Dutch firm's about page lists its offices in Eindhoven, San Diego and Austin alongside Iași. The Dutch company's jobs sit on careers.itility.nl, and that is where the Romanian roles and their application forms are listed.

Recently, in order to facilitate our increasing number of customers, we have decided to expand our operation and open a tech office in Iasi, Romania, according to the Itility cloud engineer posting.

Which Iași Jobs Are Open Right Now?

The careers site has a separate Romania section, and every role in it is listed as hybrid and based in Iași. The section currently lists these openings:

All five postings name the same contact person (see the DevOps posting, the Full Stack posting, the Cloud posting, the Data posting, the Agentic AI posting), Andrei Spitelnicu, who leads Itility Romania as general manager, and each carries a direct application form. The Iași jobs sit on the same careers page as the company's Eindhoven roles, so you can compare them with the Dutch versions of similar positions.

What Will the DevOps Engineer Actually Work On?

The work in the DevOps Engineer posting is build and release engineering for a mixed Windows and Linux product. Day to day, the role covers:

The requirements are specific. The posting asks for hands-on Jenkins experience including administration, strong CMake knowledge for multi-platform C++ builds, and experience supporting C++ packaging across several Linux distributions, including RHEL, Ubuntu, OpenEuler and Wind River Linux. Scripting in Bash, PowerShell or Python is also listed.

If your DevOps background is mostly web services on Kubernetes, this is a different flavour of the job. It rewards people who have kept compiled C++ and C# toolchains building reliably, which is a narrower but valuable skill set.

What Do the Cloud and Data Engineer Roles Ask For?

The Cloud Engineer role is a consulting job. You would analyse client problems, design cloud architectures, automate infrastructure with infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines, and improve existing environments on cost, security, performance and manageability. The posting also expects you to coach clients and colleagues and to spot new opportunities with customers.

The bar is set for experienced candidates. The posting asks for a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, mathematics or electrical engineering, more than 3 years of experience as a cloud consultant or engineer, in-depth knowledge of at least two of Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, and scripting skills in tools such as Terraform, ARM, Bicep, Python or PowerShell.

The Data Engineer role centres on end-to-end data pipelines, data quality checks and owning production incidents for the semiconductor client. The stack is named plainly. It includes Python, PySpark, SQL, Git and Databricks, Azure data services such as Data Factory, Data Lake and AKS, and tools like GitLab, Grafana, Jira and ServiceNow. The posting also lists experience migrating pipelines from on-premises Hadoop environments to Azure cloud services, and it asks for excellent written and spoken English.

What Is Entune and Why Are Two Iași Roles Tied to It?

Two of the Iași listings carry the name Entune. The Full Stack posting describes Entune as a business that turns data from smart buildings into real-time insights, optimisations and AI-driven building control, with its own software platform aimed at making buildings more energy-efficient and comfortable.

The Full Stack Engineer (.NET) posting covers backend and front-end work in Python, SQL and C#, cloud infrastructure, connecting data from sensors and meters, and building AI features and agentic workflows. It asks for a degree in computer science, software engineering or similar and between three and five years of experience as a software engineer.

The Agentic AI Engineer posting is clear that the job is not only about models and prompts. It wants someone willing to build regular software as well, including backend services, APIs, data pipelines and integrations with building systems. The tech stack it lists runs from Python, SQL and REST APIs to LLMs, orchestration frameworks, Docker and Kubernetes, and IoT sensor data, and it says you do not need to master all of it.

What Does Itility Offer, and How Does Its Hiring Process Work?

None of the five Iași postings publishes a salary. Each one promises a competitive salary plus the same package of extras, which includes 26 vacation days, meal vouchers, a performance bonus opportunity twice a year, private health insurance, a private pension option, hybrid working and training through the Itility Academy in hard and soft skills.

The application form adds a screening question worth noticing. It asks whether you live within about 60 minutes' travel time from Iași, or whether you are willing to relocate. The hybrid label means the office matters, so candidates in Bucharest or Cluj should expect to answer that question honestly. The form also asks for consent to keep your data for 365 days in case a different role fits later.

The company's general hiring page sets out a four-step default process, which it says might differ slightly by vacancy:

  • An introduction meeting with a recruiter.
  • A conversation with the practice lead about your ambitions and the best starting point for your first customer assignment.
  • An in-depth interview with a consultant about the role's responsibilities.
  • A final interview with HR on employment conditions, followed by an offer if both sides are keen.

Interviews can be scheduled online, and the same page suggests reading the company's customer use cases and preparing examples of projects you are proud of.

Why Did Itility Choose Iași and Palas Campus?

Itility Group chief executive Peter Schepers framed Romania as the next logical step in the company's global expansion and tied it to a best-fit delivery model that brings teams from different locations together at a competitive cost. He pointed to Iași's mix of solid technical expertise and cost competitiveness. That is a plain signal that the office is partly a cost decision, and candidates should read it that way when they negotiate.

The local message is different in tone. Itility Romania's management says the goal is a strong local technology community of specialists integrated into the international organisation, working on international projects, rather than only a centre that supplies technology services at competitive costs. The Iași team is set to become part of the international teams working on projects for clients across several industries.

Iași’s strong technology community and talented engineering workforce make it an ideal location to build long-term capabilities for our customers, according to the Itility offices page.

Palas Campus already houses IT, automotive and insurance employers. Palas Campus was completed in 2023 as part of the Palas complex in downtown Iași, and its developer describes it as the biggest office building in Romania. The campus houses multinational companies in IT, automotive and insurance with more than 5,000 employees. The developer counts the headquarters of 13 companies in the building, which also has restaurants, cafes, a gym, medical centres and a supermarket.

What Is Still Unclear About the Plan?

Several things a job seeker would want are not in any of the pages. There is no salary band on the postings, no timeline for reaching the full team and no breakdown of how many of the planned roles are senior, junior or non-technical. The only dated goal is growth by the end of the year, with the full team described as a goal the company wants to reach.

It is also worth reading the client line in each posting. The DevOps and data roles serve a customer in the Netherlands, so your day may run on Dutch business hours and Dutch project rhythms even though your desk is in Iași. That can be a plus if you want international experience without moving abroad, but ask about it in the first interview.

What This Means for Job Seekers, and What Should You Do Next?

This is a real opening with real postings behind it, not only a press release. The Romania section of the Itility careers site already carries named roles, and each posting names a hiring contact and has an application form (see the DevOps posting, the Full Stack posting, the Cloud posting, the Data posting, the Agentic AI posting).

Our view is that the best candidates for the first wave are mid-level and senior engineers whose experience matches the stack word for word. The early roles are built around specific client work, from C++ build pipelines to Databricks data pipelines, so a general profile is less likely to stand out than a CV that mirrors the posting. If you are earlier in your career, watch the page, because the company says the range of roles will expand as the office grows.

Here is what we would do:

  • Apply only on the real site. Use careers.itility.nl and ignore the unrelated US company at itility.com.
  • Match your CV to the tools. Name Jenkins, CMake, Terraform, PySpark or C# exactly where you have used them. Our guide to listing technical skills on an IT resume shows how.
  • Ask about pay early. The postings give no salary, so raise the range at the recruiter stage rather than at the final HR interview.
  • Ask who the client is and what hours you will keep. The DevOps Engineer posting and the Data Engineer posting both serve a semiconductor customer in the Netherlands, so clarify time zones and travel.
  • Prepare project stories. The Itility hiring page suggests preparing projects you are proud of, and our job interview tips help you shape them.
