What Was the Central Bank of India Recruitment?

The Central Bank of India advertised 266 regular posts for Zone Based Officers in Junior Management Grade Scale I (Mainstream) in its recruitment notification dated January 20, 2025. Candidates could apply for one zone only, and selected officers cannot transfer to another zone until they are promoted to the MMGS-III grade.

The 266 vacancies were split across four zones.

  • Ahmedabad (Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu) had 123 posts, with Gujarati as the local language.
  • Chennai (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala) had 58 posts, with Tamil or Malayalam.
  • Guwahati (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura) had 43 posts, with Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Manipuri, Garo, Khasi, Mizo or Kokborok.
  • Hyderabad (Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka) had 42 posts, with Telugu or Kannada.

When Did Applications Open and Close?

Online registration opened on January 21, 2025 and closed on February 9, 2025. Applications for this drive are now closed, and the bank has declared its final results.

The application fee was ₹175 plus GST for SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates, and ₹850 plus GST for all other candidates. GST was charged at 18% on top of the fee.

Who Was Eligible?

Applicants needed a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Medical, engineering, Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant qualifications also counted. Candidates had to be between 21 and 32 years old on November 30, 2024, with an upper age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 10 years for PwBD candidates.

This was not an entry-level drive. Candidates needed experience in a scheduled commercial bank, a scheduled co-operative bank or a large NBFC, with at least 12 months in an officer or supervisory role, or 36 months in a clerical role (or 36 months of clerk plus officer service), as the bank clarified in its corrigendum of January 29, 2025. Clerical experience at an NBFC did not count.

Selected officers also had to sign a bond of ₹300,000 for three years and have a CIBIL score of at least 650 when joining.

How Much Did the Job Pay?

Zone Based Officers joined at the Assistant Manager (Scale I) grade, with basic pay starting at ₹48,480 a month and rising to ₹85,920 a month across the scale. Allowances and perks follow bank policy. New officers serve a two-year probation, which the bank can extend by one year.

How Did the Selection Process Work?

Selection was based on an online exam and an interview, weighted 70:30. The exam had 120 questions worth 120 marks in 80 minutes, covering English, banking knowledge, computer knowledge, and the economy and general awareness. IBPS held the exam on March 15, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates were interviewed virtually from May 5 to May 9, 2025. Candidates who could not show a 10th or 12th standard certificate in their zone language took a language test in Mysuru on July 24, 2025.

What Happened in the Final Results?

In its final results notice, the bank provisionally shortlisted 208 candidates for the 266 posts. They were asked to report on August 25, 2025 at the Central Bank Officers Training College in Bhopal for document, biometric and medical checks, followed by two weeks of induction training.

What Does This Mean for Job Seekers?

This round is over, but Central Bank of India keeps posting officer, specialist and contract roles on its recruitment page. If you have a year of officer experience or three years as a bank clerk, zone-based drives like this one are worth watching. Keep your degree certificate, experience letters and a local language mark sheet ready, since those were the documents this drive asked for.
